Product Care

How do I take best care of my jewellery?

Please take a look at our Product Care section to read all about this.

My jewellery has been damaged. What can I do ?

We mostly are able to repair any damage done to your jewellery piece. Please contact our office by email and send us a picture and description of the damage. We will get back to you to let you know if we indeed can repair the piece and to what (eventual) cost. In some cases the jewellery piece needs to be send over to our studio to be able to judge if the damage can be fixed.

Materials

What type of materials are being used in Martine Viergever jewellery?

We mainly use sterling silver (925/000), either gold plated or oxidised. Some jewellery pieces are a combination of silver 925/000 with silver or gold plated brass. Please take a look at the jewellery specs on the product pages to learn about the materials used.

Is your jewellery hallmarked?

Our jewellery is only hallmarked if it is completely made of sterling silver and weights over 8 grams. This is according to Dutch hallmark regulations of the official Dutch hallmark institute Waarborg Holland BV.

My skin reacts weird to the materials used. What‘s happening?

Some people may experience a blackening of the skin while wearing (gold plated) sterling silver jewellery. This may be caused by highly acidic perspiration or contact with other chemical agents like perfume, make-up, hairspray or cleaning products. Since sterling silver may be alloyed with copper some people may also experience a green staining of the skin. While rare, some people may have an allergic reaction to one of the metals alloyed with silver, usually appearing as a reddening of the skin or itching. None of these conditions are to be taken as an indication of the quality of the sterling silver.

How long does the goldplated layer on my jewellery piece stay?

Our goldplating is of the highest quality. Pendants, earrings and necklaces have a layer of 3 micron. Bracelets and rings that are more vulnerable to rubbing and tearing are goldplated with a 5 micron layer, which is the highest quality available.  To take best care of your jewellery, please not our Product Care section. Gold plating can be repeated for frequently worn items to return them to their original condition. There will be a service charge for this.

Sizes

How to determine your ring size.

For those interested in purchasing a ring, but unsure of your ring size, here is a method of estimating your size without need for special tools.

Step 1: Take a ring that fits.
Step 2: Measure the inside of the ring.
Step 3: When the inside diameter for instance is 16mm, you need a size S.

Ø Size S: 16,1mm = 0.634″
Ø Size M: 17,1mm = 0.674″
Ø Size L: 18,1mm = 0.714″

Since our jewellery is handmade, sizes may slightly vary.  If you like to order a different ring size, please let us know by sending us an email with your requested diameter in millimetres.

I’d love to have my purchase in a different size, finishing or shape. Do you customize on request?

Yes, we do! Let us know your preferences and we will provide you with a cost estimation upfront if necessary.

Stockists

Can I find your jewellery in a shop?

We have a list of our stockists online, you can find it here. Please note that stockists do not have all jewellery items in store.

Your stockist hasn’t got my preferred piece in stock. What can I do?

You can ask the retailer if they like to order the piece for you. Or you can buy your preferred piece in our webshop

I am a retailer and love to sell your jewellery. What can I do?

Great, we love to hear from you

Other Questions

Can you keep me updated by newsletter or so?

Yes! You can register here to receive our newsletter, which we will send approximately 4 times a year.

I have seen a jewellery piece on the website which has its price ‘on request’. What does this mean?

There is a small selection of jewellery that has a ‘price on request’ notification. In some cases this is because we wish to keep these items more exclusive. In other cases the price of a piece depends on the fluctuating silver price, because it has a big amount of silver weight. If you have seen a piece on the website that you like, just send an e-mail and we will inform you about delivery time, price and shipping costs

Do you take on personal assignments for designing or producing custom made Jewellery pieces?

I would love to make your wedding rings, special baby gift or business present. Email me with a description of your special request and I will get back to you about the possibilities.
